Last night I had one of those kitchen moments.
I was putting the lid back on the potato soup and grabbed the wrong one… the one that had just come out of the oven.
I felt the heat hit two of my fingers pretty quickly, and without even thinking about it, I reached into the cabinet beside my stove for my Lavender.
That little bottle stays there for a reason.
After 13 years, Lavender has become one of those things I simply keep close because I know how I use it in our home.
And around here, we have a saying:
When in doubt, Lavender.
There is one thing I think is important to understand when we talk about essential oils.
Two bottles can both say Lavender Essential Oil and still be made for very different purposes.
Some essential oils are produced mainly for fragrance. Some are produced for flavor. Others are produced with wellness use in mind.
That difference matters.
If an oil is created mainly to smell pleasant, the priorities behind how it is grown, distilled, processed, and evaluated may be very different from an oil intended for broader wellness use.
That is why I do not assume every bottle labeled “Lavender” is interchangeable.
I share these things because I want you to understand what I mean when I say, “I reached for Lavender.”
I am talking about a specific essential oil I have used and trusted for years, not assuming every bottle carrying the same name was created for the same purpose.
When I choose an oil for our home, I want to know that the natural chemistry of the plant has been preserved as carefully as possible and that the way it was produced matches the way I plan to use it.
You do not have to become an essential oil expert to ask good questions.
You just need to know that the name on the front of the bottle is only part of the story.
The same name does not mean the same oil or the same purpose.
And when we are choosing products we hope will support our families well, I think that is worth understanding.
If you’re curious which Lavender I use? I will link it here.
Till next time sweet Mommas,
