There are moments in motherhood that are hard to explain to anyone else.
Everything can look perfectly normal on the outside… but something inside you pauses for a second.
Most mothers know exactly what I mean. That quiet inner nudge that shows up when something feels a little off with one of your children.
It isn’t panic or fear.
It’s more like a gentle tap on the shoulder that says, pay attention.
Sometimes I think of them as little God winks, those gentle moments that make you notice something others might miss.
The interesting thing about that voice is how quickly we’re often taught to doubt it.
We hear phrases like:
“Everything is fine.”
“You’re worrying too much.”
“They’ll grow out of it.”
“That’s normal.”
Sometimes those things are true.
But sometimes a mother’s awareness is picking up on something others simply can’t see.
After all, no one spends more time observing a child than the person raising them.
Mothers notice the small shifts.
A change in energy.
A behavior that suddenly feels different.
A look in their child’s eyes that seems unfamiliar.
These things don’t show up on charts or checklists.
They show up in connection.
Instinct is often misunderstood. Some people imagine it as emotional or reactive, but most of the time it’s actually very calm.
It’s the quiet knowing that grows from paying attention day after day, like when a mother recognizes her child’s cry in a crowded room.
The way she senses when something is bothering them even before they say a word.
That kind of awareness doesn’t come from textbooks.
It comes from love.
It comes from presence.
It comes from truly knowing your child.
Over time, many mothers begin to realize something important.
That quiet voice deserves respect.
It doesn’t mean every moment requires action. Sometimes it simply means paying a little closer attention.
Motherhood has a way of teaching us things as we go.
And one of the most powerful things we learn along the way is this:
Your instincts are not something to silence.
They’re something that grow stronger with time as you grow in motherhood.
That kind of awareness is one of the many gifts that comes from being deeply connected to your child.
And sometimes, it’s worth paying attention to.
Until next time sweet Mommas,
